Image:Zach Braff.jpg Zach Braff (born April 6 1975) is an American television and film actor, director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his role as Dr. John "J.D." Dorian in the NBC sitcom Scrubs.

Braff was born in South Orange, New Jersey, USA to a Jewish family. He graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey, where he worked in the school's television station. He holds a degree in film from Northwestern University. He has played the lead role in Scrubs since the show first aired in 2001. He also appeared in Woody Allen's Manhattan Murder Mystery and in productions of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and Macbeth at New York City's Public Theater.

Braff wrote, directed, produced and starred in 2004's Garden State. It was filmed in his home state of New Jersey, in various towns such as South Orange, Maplewood, and Tenafly.

In February of 2005, he won the Grammy for "Best Compilation Soundtrack For A Motion Picture" for Garden State, on which he served as the compilation producer. He is currently dating pop singer and actress Mandy Moore, whom he met at a fundraising event for the Democratic party around the November 2004 election.
