Stephen Gyllenhaal (born October 4, 1949) is an American film and Television director. He is the husband of Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal, father of Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jake Gyllenhaal, and brother of Anders Gyllenhaal. The family are descendants of the Swedish noble Gyllenhaal family.
Stephen Gyllenhaal was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in a Swedenborgian family. He attended Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
