They tell the story of a friendship between Orry Main from South Carolina and George Hazard from Pennsylvania, and their families.
Television
The books were made for TV as miniseries starring Patrick Swayze and James Read as Orry and George. First two novels were done in 1985 and 1986, while the third part in 1994. In the novels Elkanah Bent, the arch-enemy of George and Orry, is an obese Ohioan while in the series he mutates into a thin Georgian.
