Kate Mara (born 1982?) is an American television and film actress.

Mara, who grew up in Westchester County, New York, began acting at an early age in numerous theatrical performances while attending several youth theater-arts schools. She first appeared on the television drama Law & Order in 1997, and began her professional career at age fourteen in the film Random Hearts, directed by Sydney Pollack, in 1999. She graduated Fox Lane High School early by a year and went on to guest star on numerous television series, including Madigan Men, Ed, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Recurring parts on the series Everwood and Nip/Tuck soon followed. A large recurring role on the WB Television Network series Jack & Bobby being her most recent television appearance. Mara has appeared in several feature films, most notably the Sundance Film Festival award-winning films Tadpole, alongside Sigourney Weaver, and Joe the King, as well as a small supporting role in Golden Globe Award winner, Brokeback Mountain. She just finished shooting The Return of Zoom with Tim Allen and Courteney Cox and before that, Full of It for New Line Cinema.

Kate debuted professionally in 2003 theatrically at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in “Landscape of the Body” with Lili Taylor. She currently lives in both New York and Los Angeles, living bi-coastally, traveling between the two. Further television credits include appearances on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, Boston Public, and Cold Case.

Mara is also known for her singing. She often sings the national anthem at home games of the New York Giants (she is the granddaughter of late Giants owner Wellington Mara), and recorded an album for the Warner Brothers record label with her band, "Trace." She has sung at NBA all-star games, and was accepted at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts but deferred for 3 consecutive years. Her singing was also featured in the film The Californians, opposite Noah Wyle.

Mara is also a skilled jazz/tap/ballet dancer. She has recently signed with the William Morris Agency and is managed by Washington Square Arts & Film.
