The Irish Derby Stakes have been held annually at The Curragh in County Kildare, Ireland since 1866. The Derby is Ireland's most important event in thoroughbred horse racing.

The race for 3-year-olds colts and fillies is run a distance of 1 1/2 miles (2414 m), drawing the best horses in Great Britain and France to compete.
