(Redirected from Farwell hajj)

The final pilgrimage of the prophet Mohammad (PBUH&F). Upon his return from Makkah to Medinah, He stopped in Ghadir Khum where he gave one of his most important sermons. He appointed Ali, the first muslim, most courageous, and most knowledgeable as his successor and he asked the present muslims to pledge allegiance to the future leader.

Muhammad's final (Farewell) Pilgrimage

Ten years after the migration (Hijrah), Muhammad ordered his close followers to call all people from various places to join him in his final (Farewell) pilgrimage (Hajj) to Mecca. This occasion marked the first time that Muslims of this number had gathered in one place in the presence of their leader. It has been reported that more than seventy thousand people followed him to Mecca and that on the fourth day of Dhu'l-Hijjah, more than one hundred thousand Muslims had entered Mecca. During this pilgrimage, Muhammad taught his followers how to perform the pilgrimage in a unified form.
