Dudley Boyz

Image:Team-3D.jpg Team 3D, Brother Ray and Brother Devon (formerly the Dudley Boyz, Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) are one of the most successful tag teams in wrestling history. They were part of ECW's infamous Dudley Family until August 1999, when they joined the World Wrestling Federation. They remained in the WWF (later WWE) until July 5, 2005 when they also lost the "Dudley Boyz" name since it is trademarked by WWE. They now compete for TNA Wrestling.
On September 21, 2005, it was announced that they had signed multi-year contracts with TNA Wrestling. After signing, it was rumored that they would become known as Brother Ray Deadly & Brother Devon Deadly, the Deadly Brothers as the names along with the Deadly Death Drop name have been recently trademarked by the former Dudleyz [1]. Prior to their TNA debut they competed as Team 3D, Devon and BRD. At the TNA tapings themselves, they were collectively called Team 3D but referred to themselves as Brother Ray and Brother Devon.
Team 3D's gimmick can be summed up in one word: tables. As the Dudley Boyz, their claim to fame in the WWF was bringing the use of tables as weapons into the wrestling mainstream, often using their signature double-team move, the 3D, to put victims through a table. They were also part of the development of a match known as TLC (Tables, Ladders and Chairs) along with the Hardy Boyz (ladders) and Edge and Christian (chairs).

Team 3D made their first appearance on the October 1 episode of TNA iMPACT!, helping save 3Live Kru from Planet Jarrett and Team Canada. Brother Ray and Brother Devon were further assisted by Kevin Nash. At the end of the show (it was cut from the show itself, but appeared on TNA's website), Brother Ray in a shoot promo told "those good, decent people in Stamford, Connecticut" (referring to the city where WWE headquarters are based) to "trademark this", at which both he and Devon flipped the bird to the camera.
Their first match on TNA was the next weekend, on the October 8 episode of iMPACT! against America's Most Wanted. Unfortunately, Gail Kim and Jeff Jarrett both interfered, and Planet Jarrett left Team 3D both bloodied on the mat. On October 15, Planet Jarrett sent a tape to iMPACT! showing the "funeral" for the careers of Team 3D. Father James Mitchell presided, and AMW gave the eulogy. Jarrett, Kim, Team Canada and Abyss were also in attendance, and the guest book was signed with names that would suggest officials of WWE. The funeral was staged at a funeral parlor local to the iMPACT! Zone in Orlando, Florida.
Notable achievements
Team 3D are the only tag team in history to capture the WWE (both versions), WCW, and ECW tag titles.
As the Dudley Boyz, they won a major tag team title 19 times— eight times in the ECW, nine times in the WWE, once with a WCW belt (even though the WWE had purchased WCW the belts were still recognized as WCW titles) and once with the NWA.
They were also involved in wrestling legend Freddie Blassie's last television appearance, six weeks before his death in 2003. Blassie came out to the ring entrance ramp in his wheelchair and participated in a storyline with the Dudleys. The climax of the story came when Blassie told the Dudleys to "get the tables!", a line typically delivered by Bubba to D-Von.
Trademark moves
- a cutter by Brother Ray after his partner Devon gives the prone opponent a flapjack, usually through a table.
- a neckbreaker by Brother Ray after his partner Devon gives the prone opponent a backdrop.
- a diving headbutt into the opponent's groin by Devon while Brother Ray spreads the opponent's legs. Brother Ray and Devon would say "Whazzzup?!" before performing the move, an allusion to the Budweiser beer commercials that were popular at the time they started performing the move.
- Devon lifts a prone opponent onto the shoulders of Brother Ray, who is sitting on the top rope, so he can deliver a Sit-out Superbomb, usually through a table.
The Dudley Family
Image:Dudley Family.jpg The Dudley Family was a large professional wrestling stable that was created by Extreme Championship Wrestling.
The gimmick behind the stable was that in the fictional ECW storylines, the Dudleys were all half-brothers, despite their obvious differences in physical appearance and even race. The fictional Willie Loman "Big Daddy" Dudley, who had travelled America as a salesman throughout the 1960s and 1970s, was named as the common father of each Dudley and the patriarch of the Dudley clan. The appearance of the Dudleys - taped glasses and unkempt hair - was based on that of the "Hanson Brothers" from the 1977 movie Slap Shot.
The original Dudley Boys debuted in ECW on July 1, 1995. They were Dudley Dudley (the only "pure" Dudley in that both of his parents had the same last name, Dudley), Big Dick Dudley (the menacing enforcer, who Dudley Dudley claimed was the result of Big Daddy's fornication with the Holland Tunnel) and Lil' Snot Dudley (the underdog). The original Dudley Boys were members of Raven's Nest throughout the summer of 1995. After Snot was injured by The Pitbulls at Hardcore Heaven 1995, he was replaced by Dances with Dudley, supposedly the result of Big Daddy Dudley's visit to a Cheyenne Indian reservation in Oklahoma, though he could, somewhat suspiciously, only speak Spanish or sing "One little, two little, three little Indians". Dances With Dudley was followed by the stuttering, dancing, overweight hillbilly Buh Buh Ray Dudley. The entourage was later expanded when the obese, slobbish Chubby Dudley and the mute, placard wielding Sign Guy Dudley (the result of Big Daddy Dudley's incarceration in an asylum) began accompanying the Dudleys to ringside. Bushwhacker Luke and Bushwhacker Butch even became honorary Dudleys for one night. Adult star Jenna Jameson also had a one night appearance as Lady Dudley at an ECW pay per view.
On April 13, 1996 Dances With Dudley suffered a leg injury, and was attacked by the debuting African American D-Von Dudley as he was stretchered out. D-Von began warring with all the other Dudleys, citing that the comedy act they had been putting on all this time was not the way true Dudleys should be conducting themselves. He eliminated Dances With Dudley, Dudley Dudley and Chubby Dudley before eventually joined forces with Buh Buh (who he helped overcome his stutter) and Big Dick. The Dudleys became a powerful, unified heel force in 1997, but were soon challenged by the debuting stoner Little Spike Dudley ("LSD"), the last hold out face Dudley. Big Dick left ECW in 1999, and Buh Buh and D-Von followed soon after. Sign Guy then changed into Lou E. Dangerously, leaving Spike as the only remaining Dudley in ECW before the promotion folded in April 2001.

Dudleys After ECW
Several more Dudleys were created outwith ECW. Big Dick Dudley formed a tag team on the independent circuit with Mark Vartanian, using the name Psycho Sam Dudley, while Snot Dudley formed a tag team with Jeff Roth, using the name Schmuck Dudley.
On January 8, 2001 in the World Wrestling Federation, Edge and Christian introduced an elderly couple, Mother Faye and Levon, who they claimed were the parents of Bubba Ray and D-Von. The couple were later attacked by the Dudley Boyz.
